The City of Night

Ce Nattad After the Fall

Night and its Hinterlands
The City of Night is the first novel in The Fire and the Dark, a dark high fantasy set in a city built among ruins and haunted by the Dead.
When a sorcerer of the House of the Orphans is found dead beyond the Long Walls, his kinsman Dana inherits unfinished duties; the hunt for a Greater Dead. But as clan politics strain during the Autumn Assembly and an old blood feud threatens to reignite, Dana begins an investigation that draws him from the libraries of Night into forbidden archives, ancient tombs, and the long-buried scars of a previous age.
What begins as a hunt for a Greater Dead becomes something far more dangerous: a confrontation with fear itself, and with the knowledge that some evils are born of fear and desperation.
The City of Night is a novel about responsibility, the price of knowledge, and the limits of fear. It is the first book of a planned trilogy.
